It all started on Father’s Day, 2015.
We here at the Oldknow project and our gang of enthusiastic volunteers waited to welcome John Sergeant and his television crew to Marple and Mellor and show him our fabulous locations. Fuelled almost entirely by cake and ice-cream and the thought of Samuel Oldknow getting a mention on ITV we soldiered through the inevitable standing around and re-takes and on Friday 22nd April at 8pm ‘our’ episode was shown

We think John Sergeant did Samuel Oldknow proud, interviewing some young volunteers, reading out Oldknow’s rules for his employees, and we enjoyed watching him in Dr John Glithero’s vintage car as he made his way to Oldknow’s Lime Kilns.
