Title Interviews with factory workers
Description Notes taken from interviews with workers at John Clayton's Mellor Mill in 1826. Workers had been moved from Cranfield in Bedfordshire, the home town of Richard Arkwright-s brother-in-law, Rev John Beard. Workers speak positively of their new lives and living conditions in Marple compared to their previous existence in Cranfield, eg better pay rates, price of coal, availability of meat and beer.
